Iyabo
"I am 49 years old and my inspiration for wanting to do the London Triathlon 2023 is that I would relish the challenge of training for this endurance race and sharing the powerful story of seeing more older women from a Nigerian heritage background thriving and having a blast training for this challenge."
Melaniene
"I am just about to turn 47. I have been trying for years to get in shape and start enjoying exercise. It’s difficult going through the menopause for things to stop aching, no energy but I keep on going and trying!"
Fatima
" I feel this triathlon will allow me to inspire others - especially other Muslim women - as we're not very well represented due to certain barriers, some of which I am hoping to break - like being able to wear the hijab whilst doing a tri."
Katie
"I can't wait to do my first triathlon. I've wanted to do one for years, but have felt held back by the financial cost of training, buying equipment and a deposit for a triathlon."
Naomi
"Being exposed to so much greatness and representation in sport recently, I am even more encouraged to give it a go. I guess now is as good a time as any.”
Flora
"I'd like to embark on my first triathlon and I'd love to be part of the community and really promote and support women getting into triathlon."
Alison
"I run for my mental health, as a children’s psychiatric nurse I am enthusiastic about the impact of exercise on our mental health."
Anne
"I love challenging myself and also share with friends and family that “you can do absolutely anything you want!” I love pushing myself…”to ..be comfortable with the uncomfortable.” So swimming is my uncomfortable space, but I am excited about this challenge and reconnecting with swimming which was a sport I avoided as a child."
Imogen
"I have wanted to enter my first triathlon for a long time now but I’m very apprehensive about it and anxious about the race. I am so worried I will come last even though I’m a strong (ish) runner and biker and ok at swimming, I’m scared of being judged."
Katie
"I love running and cycling and have recently started swimming. The swimming has been more of a challenge for me but I am becoming more and more confident and can now swim over 1km in open water."
Sophie
"Completing a sprint triathlon will be a fun challenge and a great way to keep fit combining some of my favourite ways of being active."
Lina
"Would love to be part of the crew of inspiring women about to become trailblazers in this sport!"
Naduni
"I find staying active in the form of running, cycling and swimming an effective way to manage my mental health. Some life changes have been hard on me, however, I have found great solace in engaging in physical activities and keeping myself busy with them."
Hannah
"I run for my brain and body, proving I can do hard things! I want to do my first Tri to achieve this challenge!"
Jane
"I’m doing this for me, so it doesn’t matter if I’m old and slow. This is my challenge for me to see what I’m capable of."
Nin
"I would really like to take part in a triathlon, because I’ve always admired it as a sport since I watch the Brownlee brothers in the Olympics."
Niamh
"My New Year’s resolution in 2020 was to try my first triathlon, and I signed up for a year long pool membership to train in February 2020… so you can imagine how that turned out. I would love to complete my 2020 resolution and get back into sport after a challenging few years."
Kei
"I like to try new things and push the boundaries of what my body can do. I also want to inspire more people in my community to take part in events like this.
I'd also use this as an opportunity to raise more awareness surrounding grief/loss/ bereavement."
Shakira
"A friend signed up to her first Triathlon without being able to swim. She put the work in and I felt privileged to watch her on race day crossing that finish line.
Her will and determination inspired me and I cannot wait to take this venture on, to hopefully pay it forward and inspire other females to do the same!”
Niesha
"As a 32yr old, who trained in dance, I’m now enjoying switching up my passion for being active to new areas, having taken up running; doing 10kms and half marathons. I’m now looking to take on new challenges as I’m keen to start cycling and pick back up swimming. I feel like a tri would be a perfect place to do this.
Lizzy
"I used to compete on a swim team as a child and got into running during the lockdown. I'm now looking for something to motivate me to keep fit and challenge myself in the new year to encourage me to keep swimming, cycling and running!"
Catherine
"I really wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone in 2023 and work towards a fitness goal."
Lucy
"My mum is big into open water swimming and did her first triathlon (just on her own around our local area) during COVID and I would love to do a proper one with her and maybe a few other ex-swimmer friends next year. It would be great to have something to train for and aim to improve my base level in all areas"
Isabel
"Hi, I'm Isabel and I'm 22 years old. At the start of the year I decided to take up running and, not long after, signed up for swimming lessons. Since then I’ve been addicted to running and swimming and I’m gonna start cycling in a couple of weeks when I get a road bike.
I really wanna challenge myself and do a triathlon."
Marie
"I am 44, I am in perimenopause and I am a health coach for women and I want to encourage all women to get moving, and that it's never too late to start something new"
Katie
"I want to do this triathlon- to get some confidence back that I seem to have lost the last few years"
Philly
"I did a lot of gymnastics as a child but lost touch with my love of sports as I got older."
Zuzanna
"I’ve always thought about taking a part in a triathlon but I was lacking the courage."
Fiona
"I feel like a triathlon will challenge me even more (I don’t even own a bike) and I love nothing more than a physical and mental challenge!"
Zoya
"Last year I got very sick and due to my PCOS I had gained 22kgs in 5 months. This was very harsh on my body. I had to stop running due to the pressure the new found weight put on my heart. I have now managed to lose 11kgs and it is safe for me to get back into running.
I want to do this triathlon because I want to see what my body is capable of. Now that I can run again I want to be able to do everything - run, cycle and swim. I am so grateful for my health and my body’s ability to move."
